It's #tbt -- Throwback Tuesday -- for Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins, who took to Instagram to post a vintage shot of TLC filming their iconic 1995 video for "Waterfalls." The photo is lovably '90s, with the girl group seen in the signature overalls featured in the clip.
The photo arrives on the same day we're treated to a fresh TLC track called "Meant To Be." Written by Ne-Yo, the slow jam bears a slight resemblance to the 1999 hit "Unpretty." "Meant to Be" marks the second new song on this month's "20," a greatest-hits album celebrating TLC's more than two decades in the business. The other new song is the J. Cole collaboration "Crooked Smile."
Listen to "Meant to Be":
The new album includes "Waterfalls," which spawned backlash during the summer when T-Boz and Rhonda "Chilli" Thomas remade the classic with Japanese pop singer Namie Amuro substituting for the late Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes. The Lopes family raised complaints about the original member of the girl group being replaced on the track, but T-Boz told Yahoo! Music that TLC "[doesn’t] own the master recording rights to Lisa’s raps on any of our music, and our requests to gain the rights so far have been denied."
Contentious remake aside, also take this moment to relive the glory of TLC's original "Waterfalls" video.
