We never thought Adam Levine would be the one to instigate a Twitter feud.
But on Friday (Sept. 20), Levine tweeted about an unidentified artist, saying:
Ugh..recycling old art for a younger generation doesn't make you an artist. It makes you an art teacher.
— Adam Levine (@adamlevine) September 20, 2013
He followed it up with another tweet, stating:
I unabashedly love writing and performing pop music for both myself AND everyone around me. That's It. It doesn't need any extra sauce.
— Adam Levine (@adamlevine) September 21, 2013
Gaga, presuming the tweet was written about her, responded with:
uh oh guys the art police is here
— Lady Gaga (@ladygaga) September 21, 2013
Though there has been no further interaction between the two, it seems relatively obvious that the 34-year-old "The Voice" coach was referring to Gaga and her "Applause" music video. In it, she references a number of famous works of art, including the 1957 film "The Seventh Seal" and Sandro Botticelli's 1486 painting, "The Birth of Venus."
