Kelly Rowland's dad is begging the Destiny's Child singer for a relationship "before it's too late."

Christopher Lovett, 67, opened up to Star magazine about how he has been hoping to get in contact with his estranged daughter, who he claims was taken away from him when she was just 7 years old.

“So many previous years have passed and I’m getting old. I just pray she comes back into my life before it’s too late," he told Star, adding that he wants Rowland to know he loves her. “I hoped I could make it up to her. But I’m still waiting for that day.”

Apparently, Lovett was a heavy drinker and would verbally abuse Rowland's mother, Doris, according to the U.K.'s Mirror. One day, Doris took Kelly and left. Since then, he has been looking for his daughter. He says he once drove 800 miles to Texas and went from hotel to hotel trying to find them. When he heard she was in a famous girl group, he thought there was hope. In 2000, he bought a ticket to one of Destiny's Child's concerts and cried at the show.

He claims money is not the issue.

“I own a big home now and have retired so I don’t want any of Kelly’s fortune, I just want her love," he told the Mirror. "I just hope she does not become such a big star in England on X Factor that she forgets about her dad completely. I’m getting old now – I just hope she reads this and doesn’t leave getting back in touch with me before it is too late.”

Back in 2011, Rowland said she eventually wanted to speak with her father, but she would only do it when she is ready.

  • Ryan O'Neal

Ryan O'Neal has fathered four children with three women and has been notoriously bad at raising them all. Most famously he terrorized his two oldest children, Tatum and Griffin (with first wife Joanna Cook Moore) as children, knocking Griffin's teeth out with a baseball bat at age 14 and emotionally abusing them both. When Tatum was 13, he took her to Europe with her friend Melanie Griffith, who was 18 at the time. Tatum wrote in her autobiography that she caught her dad having sex with Melanie in the hotel room. In 2007 he was arrested for allegedly assaulting Griffin with a deadly weapon. In 2008 he and Redmond (his son with Farrah Fawcett) were arrested for meth possession. At Farrah's funeral, he hit on Tatum, thinking she was a Swedish woman instead of his own daughter.

When Gary tried to claim control of his money, things grew so bitter that W.G. claims Gary tried to run him over with a car in 1986. Gary sued his parents over misappropriation of his $3.8 million trust fund in 1989. He won a $1.3 million ruling in 1993. • Joe Jackson

Mastermind of the Jackson Five, Joe Jackson ordered his children to call him 'Joseph' and rehearse incessantly. He allegedly resorted to whipping, hitting, and name-calling when they didn't play exactly right. Joe is said to have climbed into Michael's bedroom while screaming and wearing a fright mask one night to teach Michael not to sleep with the window open. Michael suffered nightmares for years because of the incident and told Oprah in 1993 that he would sometimes vomit upon seeing his father. At the BET Awards on three days after Michael's death, Joe used his time with reporters to talk about his new hip-hop recording project. He publicly claimed that Norwegian rapper Omer Bhatti is Michael's son, though there is little evidence to suggest he believes that is true. He recently touted the talent of his grandchildren.
