If rolling through Los Santos on a single-player epic wasn't time-consuming enough, get ready to enjoy it with friends online.

Video game publisher Rockstar Games has launched Grand Theft Auto Online, a multiplayer component tied to its blockbuster title Grand Theft Auto V. Players will be able to partake in the same types of activities as they would in the main game -- from playing a round of golf to performing a bank heist -- only with friends available online. Players can also customize their characters, collect cars and purchase real estate.

But be warned: getting into a game of Grand Theft Auto Online will be challenging. Several commenters on this Rockstar Games link say they've had constant difficulty starting a session of GTA Online.

In a tweet published Tuesday, Rockstar says they're working on connection issues.

"For those trying to get into GTA Online today, please bear w/ us on some day one tech connection issues that we're working to stabilize asap," said @RockstarGames.

The studio warned of potential pitfalls in the same post originally published last week.

"One thing we are already aware of, and are trying to alleviate as fast as we can, is the unanticipated additional pressure on the servers due to a significantly higher number of players than we were anticipating at this point," says a statement from Rockstar. "We are working around the clock to buy and add more servers, but this increased scale is only going to make the first few days even more temperamental than such things usually are."

Grand Theft Auto V smashed video game sales records following its arrival September 17. In its first three days, the game raked in $1 billion, says publisher Take-Two Interactive.
