Lamar Odom has been making headlines in recent weeks for his alleged drug use and supposed marital trouble with Khloe Kardashian. He's even been said to have cheated on her with multiple women. But now his father, Joe, is speaking out in defense of his basketball-playing son and is blaming all of his woes on his daughter-in-law, Khloe.

In an interview with RadarOnline, 59-year-old Joe -- a self proclaimed past drug addict who is now clean -- says his son's "curse" started when he married the 29-year-old reality star. "The reality show was a curse because it put too much of his business in the limelight. That show messed him up because to me his basketball should come first," he said of the E! series "Khloe & Lamar." "It took a lot out of him to perform for his job and in that show."

"They brought him down," he adds, pointing the finger at the entire Kardashian-Jenner clan. "He would be better off without them. Let him go and get his life together. I think the best thing for him would be to have a clean break, divorce Khloe and as a single man try and get his life back together."

Joe goes on to vilify Khloe, whom he calls "controlling," and her mother Kris, whom he blatantly call "an evil bitch."

"I saw [Khloe] totally differently when I heard the way she talked privately. It isn't pleasant," Joe, who resides in Marina Del Rey, Calif., told RadarOnline. "In public she's nice, but if you see her personally you see the real person come out of her. The mother's like that too. The whole family, they put up an act."

Last month, when reports surfaced that Lamar had inexplicably disappeared, Joe spoke to Celebuzz and voiced similar concerns regarding the "negative attention" his son has been getting since he sparked a relationship with the Kardashians. "They're always around and it's probably depressing him, the poor fellow. It's terrible," he said.

In his interview with RadarOnline, Joe makes a plea to his son to get help if he is indeed abusing drugs. "I love my son dearly, but my advice to him would be: Leave the drugs alone. If he is abusing drugs, he's got to stay straight and get his life together. Go into rehab. If it is crack he is taking, he's got to get help."

TMZ was first to report that Odom is abusing crack cocaine, and even went so far as to show photos of him purchasing household cleaning product that can double as homemade crack pipe parts.

Odom himself denied having a drug problem or issues with Khloe just two weeks ago, but last weekend, Khloe removed "Odom" from her last name on her Instagram bio.
