Katherine Heigl's already contentious reputation took a beating earlier this month, thanks to a scathing -- if not entirely new -- report from The Hollywood Reporter that accused the actress of being difficult and "not worth it." Among other things, the article compelled Heigl's "North of Hell" co-star Patrick Wilson to defend her on HuffPost Live: "She showed up, worked her tail off, super funny, super gracious, great to the cast, great to the crew, and was a total pro," he firmly attested, offering, for once, the other side of the story.

But Heigl isn't the only celebrity whose diva reputation precedes her, of course. Check out these other female stars, across all disciplines, rumored to be difficult to work with, from Mischa Barton to Nicki Minaj.

  • Sean Young

Actress Sean Young was once a hot '80s actress, but her antics on set -- spurred by an addiction to alcoholism -- made her a strike-out on many directors' lists. Oliver Stone reportedly fired her from the set of "Wall Street." And actor James Wood, with whom she had an affair with, filed a $6 million harassment lawsuit against Young. Still, the "No Way Out" and "Stripes" star claimed in 2008 to Entertainment Weekly: "I'm a comeback waiting to happen. No one deserves it more than I do."

  • Jennifer Aniston

Though we like to think of Aniston as our favorite "Friend," a source on the set of "Untitled Elmore Leonard Project" told RadarOnline that she wasn't so friendly after all. "Every day at lunch the entire cast and crew head to a cafeteria facility where they all sit down and eat lunch together for well over an hour," the source said. "But the only person who doesn't eat with everyone else is Jen. She quickly grabs a lunch to go and leaves."

  • Mischa Barton

During a recent appearance on "Watch What Happens Live," Tate Donovan, who played Barton's dad on "The O.C.," was asked by a viewer who the biggest diva was. “Definitely Mischa. She was pretty … um ... yeah…,” he admitted when prodded by Andy Cohen. “Nasty!” Cohen said, adding, “She had a terrible reputation.” “Yeah, she ... um ... They all started out great," Donovan continued. "The first year those kids were fantastic, and then, they just … all of them just fell apart.“

  • Shannen Doherty

Doherty was famously fired from "Beverly Hills, 90210" in 1994 after clashing with cast and producers. "I'm pretty happy she's gone, actually," castmate Ian Ziering admitted to Entertainment Weekly at the time. "I never liked her. Just a total lack of professionalism. Whatever. She's gone. She's history." Aaron Spelling told EW, "They said, 'Enough's enough.' You get a call to be on the set at 6 in the morning, and if Shannen doesn't show up until 10 or 11, you're a little pissed, I would imagine." Jason Priestley added, "I had a few conversations with Aaron. I never said, 'You gotta fire this girl.' But I did voice my concern for her. And just let him know."

  • Shenae Grimes

When the later iteration of "90210" premiered in 2008, reports circulated that Grimes was following in Doherty's high-maintenance footsteps. Sources told Page Six that Grimes was "tormenting everyone on set" and "acts rude to the cast, crew and extras."

  • Katherine Heigl

Sources on the set of "Five Killers" told Fox News in 2010 that Heigl was "extremely unprofessional," "flaking on meetings and making ridiculous demands." In 2011, an insider told Star magazine that there was friction betwen Heigl and "New Year’s Eve" co-star Sofia Vergara: "Katherine’s always complaining about having to stand outside in the cold for long periods of time, and Sofia can’t stand her whining… Finally, Sofia told her to be grateful that she has the role in the first place. That clearly didn’t go over well.”

  • Lea Michele

A source on the set of "Glee" told Us Weekly that Kate Hudson wasn't a fan of Michele's behavior during her stint on the show, telling the magazine, "Kate says Lea is a nightmare. Once, during a technical delay, Lea snapped her fingers and said, 'Let's go. I have plans!'"

  • Teri Hatcher

During Nicollette Sheridan's wrongful-termination lawsuit against "Desperate Housewives" creator Marc Cherry, Cherry testified that Sheridan told him Hatcher was the "meanest woman in the world." Speculation about Hatcher's on-set antics further grew when a farewell gift card from the show's crew to the cast excluded Hatcher's name.

  • Nicki Minaj

An insider on the set of "American Idol" told RadarOnline of Minaj, “Not only was she always late, but she always had a huge entourage with her and was rude to the contestants and their families, refusing to talk with them. And she wouldn’t allow anyone to take pictures of her, or with her.”

  • Ashlee Simpson

“Ashlee was kicked off ‘Melrose Place’ because she was a total diva on set, late all the time, and deeply disliked by fellow cast members,” a source told Fox411. “It created a lot of discord among the cast.”
